Sunday Pancake Brunch

For our next experiment, we were so fascinated (ok, Joe Bob was so fascinated) by the pancake printer viral video going around that we wanted to make something other than our typical round pancakes. We broke out some star pancake molds from Williams-Sonoma and went to work. We find molds to never be quite as easy as the are advertised. Even with non-stick surfaces and spraying them beforehand, they just seem to stick. That’s why, when using molds, it’s always good to double the recipe. The small extra cost in supplies pays for itself in peace of mind when you have to throw a few duds away (or nibble on them as you cook the others!). Ultimately, we did create a fun, cascading stack of star pancakes complete with a center well filled with bananas, maple syrup, and a sprinkling of pecans on top.

We don’t always have the time or desire to “play” with our food, but it makes cooking more fun to break from the usual every now and then. And no matter how it looks, it’s still delicious!
