Paper Plane Cocktail

For Valentine's Day, we were perusing cocktail blogs looking for an interesting drink to try and we stumbled across the Paper Plane Cocktail in Bon Appetit.

This recipe includes Amaro, Aperol, Bourbon and fresh lemon juice and we had 3 of the 4 ingredients at home. So, we went on the search for Amaro. Amaro is not something that you can find at your local grocery or drug store but we found a bottle at Total Wine to complete this recipe. We had never tried Amaro, which is an Italian herbal liqueur, but since we loved Aperol, another Italian apertif, we had a feeling like we would instanlty love it. Since all of the ingredents are in equal parts I couldn't tell if I thought it would be too bitter or sour, but it was delicious. It is easy to make and even easier to drink. We have had this drink three times and played with the recipe since. We add slightly less lemon juice than the recipe calls for.
